Year 6 News

Hola Mexico
In this topic we become culture vultures and immerse ourselves in the music, art, history and foods of Mexico. We make comparisons between life in Mexico and the UK and we draw on Ancient Mayan history to understand how Mexico has been shaped today.

Frozen Kingdom
We explore how climate zones affect the physical and human features of a place as well as its ecology. Would you visit Antarctica? What would you take? How could you make sure that your visit had minimal environmental impact?

A Child's War
Here we explore the Battle of Britain, focusing on a significnt turning point in British History. We look at the impact on Britain today and explore Women's work during this time.

Blood Heart
This topic will make your heart race! We learn all about the circulatory system, blood vessels, blood and our heart. We explore how we can keep our bodies healthy and immerse ourselves in the fantastic, thought-provoking 'Pig Heart Boy' by Malorie Blackman.

Revolution
Who is Abraham Darby and what did he do? We use the local area of Ironbridge to explore the ‘Birth place of the Industrial Revolution’ and the contribution of Abraham Darby to the process of iron production, looking at the impact this had on the UK and the wider world.
