At Westfield Primary School, our curriculum vision is centred on our school values and sets the highest aspirations for every child.
We believe that the curriculum and the school are inextricably linked. Our curriculum is shaped by the expertise of our staff, informed by high-quality published programmes, and underpinned by a deep understanding of the children, families and community we serve. It is designed to inspire curiosity, spark wonder and foster a lifelong love of learning, whilst ensuring that every child develops the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for the next stage of their education and beyond.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to enable children to build and retain a strong foundation of knowledge across a broad range of subjects. Through regular retrieval, revisiting key concepts and making meaningful connections between areas of learning, children deepen their understanding and become confident in applying what they know. We want all pupils to know more, remember more and achieve more.
Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. We recognise that fluency in reading, writing and mathematics provides the foundation for success across all areas of learning. Through rich texts, ambitious vocabulary and high-quality teaching, we ensure that children develop the language and literacy skills needed to access the wider curriculum and the world around them.
We also believe that education extends beyond traditional academic subjects.
